A Ticking Time Bomb

My Family and I visited Mackinac Island during the Fourth of July Weekend. We had a great time seeing the sights, riding bikes, and of course eating some famous fudge.

When we arrived within view of the Mackinac Bridge, it took my breath away. Michigan is a beautiful place.

We've been hearing a lot about Line 5, the oil pipeline built during the Eisenhower Administration (1953). It was astonishing to hear that a nearly 65 year old pipeline was running through the Great Lakes and right under the Straights of Mackinac.

National Wildlife Federation went down to video the pipeline.

Here is what they found:

Back to my day in Mackinac....

This corner of the world is a beautiful place. I can't imagine what an oil spill in the Great Lakes would mean. The impact of a spill would be catastrophic.

Line 5 and others must be shut down.

It is time to keep fossil fuels in the ground and move to renewable and sustainable energy sources.

Sincerely,

Austin
